Day 01 -- A show that should never have been cancelled
Oh, lawd, there's a lot of shows on this list for me. But for the moment, I'm gonna say Carnivale. Deliciously creepy supernatural Eternal Battle of Light and Darkness show set in the dustbowl. The two central characters are a (rather bland) healer who lives with the titular travelling carnival. He can heal anything up to and including death, but has to pull the life from somewhere. There's a really cool moment where he pulls life from a wheat field to heal a crippled little girl and she runs down it and the wheat just dies around her. Other than his power, though, Ben's just blah. The other people in the carnival are pretty cool, though, especially the blind psychic Lodz. (whose name i probably misspelled.) He drinks a lot of absinthe and is just generally creepy.
And then there is Brother Justin Crowe. Played by Clancy Brown, so you just know he's gonna be creepy, and he sure as hell doesn't disappoint. His sister Iris and their quasi-incestual relationship just adds to the awesome of his side of things.
Show was planned to be i think a three-season arc (or maybe six? i forget) but cancelled after two seasons, so it never got a chance to really explain its detailed mythology. Also, Justin suffered a bit of Character Derailment in season 2, becoming a lot more comfortable in his role as the Avatar of Darkness and, therefore, a lot less interesting. Because, apparently, the show was too detailed/complicated to be marketable. Or something.
Also, they didn't screw up their Tarot readings like every other show in the universe that uses it. So, props for that.
