hi, everyone!
for those of you who don't know, i'm in jordan for the next three weeks. it's my goal to post at least a little bit about what i do here every day. so, here we go!

it's 726 local time, i'm camped out at heathrow airport. my flight from here to amman leaves in...about four hours, so i got some time to kill. probably going to get about $20 changed to pounds and get something to eat in a bit. or maybe they'll take visa and i won't have to. but i might go ahead and get some pounds--i'm here for another four hours on my way back, so.
.
flight from dulles here went fine--there was some radio difficulty so we had to wait about ten minutes while they exchanged it out, and i was sitting next to an adorable two/three (i'm bad at small child ages)-year-old boy. (he really was adorable, most of the time. he did get cranky a bit towards the end, and he kept shifting over to my side of his seat and accidentally bumping into me, but still). anyway, i got here, and first started panicking, thinking i'd forgotten my laptop charger since i couldn't find it in my computer bag, but then i found it in my other carryon, so all is well ^_^
sadly, the wifi here requires a paid account with boingo, so i can't check email or anything, which makes me a mite nervous for meeting up with some of the others in amman who are arriving around the same time. but right now i'm charging my laptop and probably going to play one of the one-hour free-trial games i have, then see about getting some pounds and some food and doing a bit of writing. hope you all are well, i'll probably post this along with another update once i get set up for wifi where we're staying in amman (the website says it has it, so ^^)
824 pm now, in amman in the hotel. need a password for the wireless, but waiting for other people from the group to check in--there should be two others in the room. i did meet up with one other girl on the same flight from london, and we split a cab to the hotel. (since we couldn't find anyone else from the group supposedly all arriving around this time and didn't want to wander around the airport looking like little lost kittens) we only have one room key at this point, though. which may be a problem later, but so far it's not.
flight from heathrow was fine. i had a row all to myself so i was able to stretch out and...well, not sleep exactly, but doze a little, at least.
haven't seen much of amman yet--it was after dark when we were coming from the airport. i did see a lot of mcdonalds and other fast food type places, though. and tried to read some of the signs but they all went by too fast before i could figure them out. need to work on my reading comprehension, obvs.
sim card seemed to be a lot more expensive than i thought it would be, so i'm going to get a cheap disposable one tomorrow.
k (girl i rode in with) has gone to get the intarwebs password now. it's...about 130 pm on the east coast now, if i'm counting right, so maybe someone will be on. if not, i'll just post all this from lj and then make it prettier in my blue journal for grandma.
hope you all are well ^^
