Belated Valentine's Day Fic!

Title: Compromise
Rating: PG/PG-13
Fandom: Battlestar Galactica
Pairing: Three/Six/Baltar
Summary: Three works out an arrangement with Caprica-Six as to how to proceed with their mutual love affair. Spoilers up through 'Hero.'
Author's Note: This is...kind of weird. And I'm happy to edit if the consensus is that I should use her name instead of her number, but her head is kind of hard to get into. ...I'll admit, I mostly like this ficlet for the punchline at the end XD

"Did you find out what we needed?"

Three looked up to see Caprica-Six leaning against the doorway. The Centurion guard, as always, stared straight ahead, ignoring her.

"In a sense," she said, evasively. She shifted Gaius's head off of her lap, careful not to wake him.

Caprica-Six's eyebrows shot up.

"It's not like that," she assured her, quickly. "I'm not trying to steal him away, exactly."

"I don't care," the taller woman said, with obvious effort. "I'm walking away. You can have him."

She caught her wrist as she turned to leave. "That's not what I meant, Caprica. What you built with him isn't something I can take away, and I'm not interested taking it away. I wanted to..." She trailed off, debating the best word to use.

"You wanted to what?"

Words weren't enough.

She tilted her head up, pulled Caprica-Six's down, and kissed her.

The response was immediate, and overwhelming--this is what Sixes were designed for, after all. Three was the one who pulled back after a moment. "Understand?"

Caprica-Six nodded.

She smiled a little. It was refreshing, to reach a point of peace, after spending so long circling each other over this issue. The solution was so simple. "We can make this work."

Caprica-Six glanced over at Gaius, still sleeping.

"I don't think he'll object," she said, dryly, following the taller woman's gaze. "And if he does, of course we'll work out an alternate solution."

"What happened, after I left?" Caprica-Six asked her, hesitantly taking her hand.

"He lied for the same reason he went over there in the first place, he's still a little bit afraid of us. But he loves us more, with all his heart." She smiled a little. "After he told me that, I unhooked him and brought him back here. We talked for a little while, and then he fell asleep."

"He'll be all right?"

"I didn't do any permanent damage," she assured her. "It might be a day or two before he can move without pain, but he'll recover."

Caprica-Six nodded, relieved, and squeezed her hand a little. "Then we'll be gentle."

Smiling, she squeezed back, then eyed the sleeping human. "I think we'll need a bigger bed."

I'm glad I finally started watching Battlestar Galactica, or I wouldn't have a clue what was going on!
