omg he did his research!

...well, sort of.

anyway, i've been rereading 'the three musketeers', which is one of my favorite books. now, all the stuff about george villiers and anne of austria must be taken with a grain of salt, but this is a historical novel (dumas pere wrote in the 19th century) based on a historical novel (written in...1701, i think) based on the real-life 1620s adventures of a musketeer named d'artagnan.

so, i get to the last few chapters, and milady's imprisonment in england (the best part, amirite?) and i vaguely (it's been a couple years since my last reread) remember her seducing one of her guards to get out, 'cause that's what she does. a guard is given a name--john felton. ...that name seems familiar. i file that aside for now and finish the book--felton murders buckingham, something about being passed over repeatedly for promotion, even though his True motive is because he, a staunch puritan, is madly in love with milady, who gave herself the persona of a puritan girl to whom buckingham had done wrong.

yes,  madly in love with.

after five days.

milady works fast.

but, yeah, the stabby death in a harbor stuck with me, and i remembered the vague familiarness of the name john felton.

one quick wikipedia search later...

i find that bizarrely awesome. congrats to dumas pere. :D
