classes!

woohoo! so, i had my second day of classes today, and i'm psyched ^^

monday/wednesday 11-1220: History of Theatre and Drama II. continuation of the course i took last semester, going from restroation to the present. i'm excited! except we're reading godot (haha, almost typed dodo) which i don't like. i think stoppard did it better when he immitated it in R&G. but oh well.

monday/wednesday 110-230: Greek Drama. squeeeeeeee! i've read/am familiar with half these plays already, from either high school or last semester's section on greek drama, so the reading isn't quite as daunting as it looks like on the surface. plus, the teacher's awesome.

tuesday/thursday 10-12: Acting 1. i love david jaffe. he's funny and has the most amazing voice. and our first homework assignment is to write a play and email it to him by noon saturday. and that's it. no other requirements. it doesn't even have to have characters. yay bizarre! although i started reading david mamet's book, and i want to beat him with the giant heavy hardback stanislavsky (sp?) book. not because i disagree with pretty much all he says (though i do), but because he's so. fucking. condescending about it. he does that whole 'oh, i don't mean to judge, but...' and then ARGH. but i'm excited about the class anyway :D

tuesday/thursday 110-230: International Politics. this class is gonna be so fascinating and fun. we start with the peloponesian war (then jump a millenium or two). plus, my teacher's hair begs to be petted. it's short and spikyish. and she's awesome for other reasons besides her hair, too.

WAUGH I hate condescending authors. They make me froth. I've been known to throw their books across the room and/or not read them, if nobody's making me. *hugs and consoles*

Awesome teachers are awesome, though! And I condole with you on having to read Beckett, though at least he's not Pinter...? Blah. Beckett's short plays are better than Godot.

Good luck this semester!
