Welp, this one's making the rounds again!
1. Open up your music player. Hit shuffle.
2. Record the first few lines of the first thirty songs that come up that do not give away the name of the song. Skip instrumentals, but don't skip the embarrassing ones. (even though instrumentals are, by definition, not songs. inherited pet peeve from two violin teachers, sorry :X. i'm also skipping things like mass movements/other sacred music that don't have distinctive lyrics and are therefore impossible to guess correctly. and repetitions. since i have multiple copies of some songs)
3. Make hapless LJ denizens guess the song names and artists. Google is cheating. For musical songs, the name of the musical is acceptable in place of the artist.
4. Least hapless LJ denizen wins admiration. That's right, just like the number i, the points are imaginary. ((sorry, mine isn't as funny DX))
I remember.
You were with that man they took away.
I recognize your face.
Rode a boy with a six-gun in his hand
And his daring life of crime
Made him a legend in his time
East and west
Of the Rio Grande.
3. I see you try to turn away.
I hear how much you long to say.
I feel how much you need to hide
What's happened inside you tonight.
Don't take me back there.
We must return.
He'll kill me.
His eyes will find me there--
[giveaway name], don't say that.
Those eyes that burn.
Don't even think it.
That's all I need to know.
And you will keep me safe
And you will keep me close
And rain will make the flowers grow.
I have beautiful dreams I can spin you,
Dreams to linger within you.
Close your eyes and ride my carousel.
Won't be turned around.
And I'll keep this world from dragging me down.
Gonna stand my ground
.
8. Hey, if we can't find a way out of these problems,
Then maybe we don't need this.
Standing face to face,
Enemies at war, we build defenses
And secret hiding places.
Wherever you roam
And admit that the waters around you have grown
And accept that soon you'll be drenched to the bone.
If your time to you is worth saving,
Then you better start swimming, or you'll sink like a stone.
The door squeaks,
There's a field mouse a-nibblin' on a broom
And I sit by myself
Like a cobweb on a shelf.
But this diner's thawed my ears.
Hot coffee in a clean white mug
And a smile when the waitress hears
That I was born in North Carolina,
Not far from her home town,
And we used to play the same pizza parlor pinball.
imperio imperio inferna fortuna crudelitas
Du drehst Dich im schwarzen Licht
Dein Schatten explodiert wie ein Vulkan
It's frankly quite absurd,
To leaf through lengthy lexicons
To find the perfect word.
I don't care what you've said or done.
Don't go away,
Not now, when life has just begun.
Come back,
And be the woman who I knew.
Help me to believe in you.
What on earth am I to do?
15. [first line excised for titular reasons]
In the winter time,
The lazy streets, so undemanding
I'll walk into the crowd.
16. There once were days,
So bright,
And nights when every cricket-call sang bright,
And I sang Gloria!
And I sang Gratias Deo!
I knew the glorious feeling...
I hope you're happy now.
I hope you're happy how
You've hurt your cause forever.
I hope you think you're clever.
Here in my hat.
Come on, [distinctive name],
Helping others brings you closer to God.
So give me a quarter?
He's a lucky guy,
I'm, like, gonna cry.
I've got tears comin' out of my nose!
At Rue de Bac, they're straining at the leash.
Students, workers, everyone
There's a river on the run.
Like the flowing of the tide,
Paris coming to our side.
Hear my prayer.
In my need,
You have always been there.
Was ravishing fair
Bright blue were her eyes
And bright gold was her hair.
It is the music of a people
Who will not be slaves again.
24. Flying alone in Row Z,
I see you ten in front of me,
Sleeping peaceful.
A million miles from the present madness of things.
And bound her in her bones.
The seas be ours
And by the powers,
Where we will, we'll roam.
If your heart is in your dream,
No request is too extreme,
[title],
Call me a fool.
Right at this moment, I'm totally cool.
Clear as a crystal,
Sharp as a knife,
I feel like I'm in the prime of my life.
You feel outside, looking in.
It's like you're the odd man out.
Let me help you end your doubt!
29. If one day you discovered him,
Broken down, he's lost everything,
No cars, no fancy clothes
To make him who he's not.
The woman at his side
Is all that he has got.
Seems an awful waste.
Such a nice, plump frame what's-his-name has.
Had.
Has.
Nor, it can't be traced...
Happy guessing!
