I was doing these for a while a few years ago, but daily...I think now that I'm not in school anymore, weekly makes more sense. They'll probably be mostly writing goals, unless big RL stuff comes up.

You know those articles on the toast, like how to tell if you’re in a Brontë novel, how to tell if you’re in a Hemingway novel, and so on? If you feel so inspired, drop me a comment along the lines of “how to tell if you’re in a fic by Shadowsong.”

I'm curious. ^^

So, after finishing NaNo last month, I've been trying to get back into writing in my established origfic universes, but I haven't gotten anything done (been writing some fanfic and stuff, but I miss these worlds).

Anyway, I'm putting out a general request for prompts. The two worlds I primarily write in are Feredar (which is basically a standard high-fantasy framework for a story that more focuses on political/familial relationships. Also, there's a serial killer running around because why not; this story also has a character sheet and a list of AUs a mile long) and Lux, (which is the Apocalypse IN SPACE; the main character is a linguist/translator who is romantically involved with Lucifer). I also occasionally drift into The Institute Files, (which is a series of short stories about the titular Institute that studies extranormal beings that universally end horribly).

Anyway, if you have any ideas for things I could write in any of these universes, I'd really appreciate it!

Seriously. My morning could not have been worse if it tried.

So, yeah. Fired.

Today I wrote close to 1800 words introducing 14 characters, of whom maaaaaybe five will be relevant?

I love NaNo. XD

(I'm behind, but actually doing better than i have on previous attempts--i'm at like 7000some words? I think I got to 10000 on the first draft of Feredar before I gave up, but that took...I think fifteen days? And then my writing program died and I lost like two thousand words of backstory. :< )

okay, so nano is in like less than a week and i still haven't decided what to write. :< i've narrowed down my previous list of five to a list of three (based primarily on the fact that the two i cut would involve serious research i forgot to do...)

so, i am seeking opinions! every time i think i've picked one of these, i start to waver and think i want another one more, or i just don't want the one i've picked. as some of you may know, i am <i>terrible</i> at making decisions, so here we are.

Option 3! )

...sooooo, thoughts? help me choooooose

the perils of reading through old logs: long-dormant characters (and ENTIRE AUs) wake up.

...soooo i may have a third (fourth?) serious contender for nano this year...::headwall::

things that are way more fun than they should be: hotch talking with kesshare.

(this is coming, i swear, just going slower than i hoped. oh, well, that's what amnesty week is for.)

How do you keep track of your TBR pile?

I'm gonna be sort of disappointing on this meme, because I really don't ^^;; I mean, I have a vague knowledge of 'oh, right, I want to read that someday,' and I recognize titles if I've been recommended them before but...yeah.

Is your TBR mostly print or e-book?

Print. I don't read a lot of e-books, other than a few public domain things.

A Book That’s Been On Your TBR List The Longest

...Probably Three Musketeers in the original French? At least that's the one I know for sure that's been there the longest. At least since late HS/early college. Does that count, if the English translation I have is one of my favorite rereads?

A Book You Recently Added To Your TBR

Blood & Beauty, a novel about the Borgias.

A Book In Your TBR Strictly Because of Its Beautiful Cover

I don't actually put books on the pile for covers? I'll pick them up as impulse-reads, but then I usually read them instead of putting them on the stack.

A Book On Your TBR That You Never Plan on Reading

...I'm sure I have some? But, again, I don't keep super-strict track of this stuff.

An Unpublished Book on Your TBR That You’re Excited For

Prince Lestat. ...shut up.

A Book On Your TBR That Basically Everyone’s Read But You

Um. Not sure? Again, I'd have to actually have a list somewhere to answer this.

A Book On Your TBR That Everyone Recommends To You

See above--I get things recommended to me, but if I don't write them down/seek them out right away, I forget until the next time they're recommended. So probably a lot.

A Book On Your TBR That You’re Dying To Read

This is why I'm bad at this meme because lack of physical list. I'll just say all of them.

How many books are on your Goodreads TBR shelf?

...I don't think I have one?

Dear Imogen:

How is it that the combination of listening to the soundtrack of a musical that a) bears very little resemblance to your life, and b) is set a century after your story plus your stepmother's PB being now in the main cast of the TV show I'm watching woke you up?

You're not even doing anything! You're just like .... "yo, I'm still here."

IDEK

With bewildered affection,
Your Author.

(I know this means nothing to most people on my flist, it's just weird.)

Not a new one this time, but I decided to go ahead and do Rubika and her three narrative associates in all the dollmakers I've used before. So, here goes! Check out the dollmaker tag for previous dolls in my origfic worlds

Because all the cool kids are doin' 'em.

I'll post the first few lines or so of 30 random songs from my iTunes, you guess the title and artist. No Googling allowed! That's cheating. ^_^. I will accept titles of films/shows as the artist for soundtrack songs. (Edited because I realized I was unclear whoops. <.< )

Send me one little thing that could have been different and I'll talk about what would happen in that resulting AU!

Any of my origfic is fair game. Fandoms will be on a case-by-case basis, but any fandom that has a tag on my LJ (some I'm into don't have tags on my DW because I try to keep all my fannish stuff on LJ and my origfic on DW) is definitely open.
